Enlightenment

Write me free.  Society is like a box and words are the only way to escape.

Write me free.  Words are what hold the true meaning of one’s being, their very essence.

Write me free.  Words are written to persuade.  They’re written to start a revolution.  They are an outward representation of everything we know to be true, but that doesn’t mean they are.

Write me free.  Only with logic and reasoning can one truly escape from society.  Society promotes so many things, so many values, but who is to say they are what they need to be?  We need to be enlightened, but this state of enlightenment is seperate from religion.  It’s seperate from restraints.   We say we are a free nation, but we are held within chains placed around our hands by ourselves.  If we say nothing to promote enlightenment we aid in the opression.  Until an idea is pointed out and accepted, it can never be.  If it isn’t voiced, it ceases to exist.

Write me free of your religion.  I thought we already had, but you don’t interpret it that way.  The First Amendment wasn’t written to protect your belief, it was written to protect your right to that belief.  There is a big difference.  The government isn’t there to protect your religion, only your right to one.  If it protects your religion, it is promoting your religion, it is overstepping its secular boundaries.  If it protects your religion, it is not protecting that of the next person, it cannot protect contrasting beliefs.  If it protects your religion it is repressing my right to lack one.  The only thing it can do is protect your right to religion.  It is the only fair way.  It is the only secular way.

Write me free of your opinion.  Go ahead and have it, even if it makes you look ignorant.  Just don’t expect it to go unchallenged.  Your fairy tales will be fought with science.
