Soccer Moms

June 23, 2008

I don’t understand the lifestyle of a soccer mom.  You know, the type of mom that drives her kids all over the place for their so-called extra-curriculars and various sport practices.  She makes sure they get to church every Sunday, but don’t really believe the nonsense they preach there.  It’s just an appearance.  They go to PTO/PTA meetings and act like what they’re doing really matters.  The school fundraiser doesn’t matter.  They’re not making any difference in the world. All they do is talk about their hair appointments and compare thir kids, houses, and cars.  How can they live life so uninvolved in matters that actually, well, matter?

Religion

Think of all the war it has caused, all the conflict, all the death.  Wouldn’t we be better off without it?

Death

June 14, 2008

Why are people scared to die?  It’s just the end.  You die and then you decompose.  It’s nothingness.  It’s an endless sleep without dreams.  You don’t have to think, you’re simply gone.  It’s not that unfathomable.

Why do people need a coping mechanism of sorts for death?  That’s all that religion is, that is all that heaven, paradise, and reincarnation are.  I don’t understand fear of death.  Once you’re gone it doesn’t matter anymore.  You don’t even know you are dead.  You don’t know anything.  You don’t think.  You just cease to exist.

Gender

June 11, 2008

If you think about it, it’s really weird the way someone can look at you and immediatly know your gender (well this statement is true for the majority of us anyways).  I understand the purpose of this, but think of how much easier life would be for so many people if were all anrogynous.  It would solve sexuality problems becuase you wouldn’t even know a person’s gender until you were doing something with them.  People could never have the labels “confused” or “gay” or “bi,” as there would only be one label for human sexuality (limited within attraction for the human species of course).  The disappearance of sexuality labels would decrease the number of hate crimes.  There would be no sort of gender identity problems as there wouldn’t be a gender, in the sense that we know it, to identify with.

By no means am I advocating a utopian society where people all look alike or anything like that.  I love the differences between people and looking like my own gender (which I’m assuming you can guess just by the way I write despite the fact I have I don’t think I’ve mentioned it).  I’m just pondering things.

Easily Inspired

June 7, 2008

I work in a store.  It’s not the best job, but it’ll do for high school.  Lately instead of turning on your flasher in order to get change, a “change needed” button has been added.

Every time I hear the “change needed,”  I think about just how true this is.  The world is practically in ruins, but let’s focus on the United States alone, at least to start.  I think a lot of it can be summed into two words–Bush administration.  If Obama does not get elected, as Hillary is out of the race,  I’m not quite sure what we’ll do.  Republicans have been screwing this country for at least eight years, if I knew the number was longer, I’d give it, but I can only remember so far back.  Change is needed, and it has to start somewhere, but it will have to start with a Democrat (or a third party, but chances for a third party election are slim).  The government goes in cycles.  It has several years of policy-making then several years of reform.  It’s time for reform.

Besides the government, people are too materialistic.  They spend money on theings they don’t want and half the time don’t even use.  There are people who spend more money on a bag than a poor family does on food in a year.  We waste so much food that  49 million people could be fed with what we waste.

Back to government, a bit.  I don’t understand half of the laws.  The death penalty is legal in many places.  It shouldn’t be.  The system isn’t perfect.  It’s more cost-efficient to keep criminals in jail than to kill them.  Also, the death penalty does not lower the crime rate at all.  Steeper punishment does not prevent people from acting out.  While we’re on jails, a lot of prisoners are there due to a reason related to drugs.  Drugs should be legal.  The end.  They are a personal liberty that people should be granted.  Speaking of personal liberties, gay marriage should be the standard for every state.  The arguement that marriage would lose its sanctity is ludicrous.  By that, divorce should be illegal also, which a lot of people would be highly angered by.  Love isn’t gender-specific.  People should be able to marry whomever they like.  If your reason against it has to do with religion, it is not valid.  The government is a secular institution and its laws should be not be ruled by religious views.

That’s it for now.

Reality v. Illusion

June 7, 2008

How much of what you put yourself out there for is reality?  How much of it is true?  To what extent do you distort yourself, and who is it really for?  Is it for your own protection, or is it for acceptance?  Why can’t people just be themselves, why can’t we all just drop this facâde?

Trust

June 6, 2008

How do we decide whom to trust?  There are so many ways today that trust can harm us, but how do we know who is trustworthy and who isnt?

Fear of Words

June 6, 2008

Why are people scared of words?  When people die, it’s always passed away or moved on, never died.  People never say I’m sorry so-and-so died, only I’m sorry for your loss.  What did you lose?  People are scared of saying their opinions, they’re scared of what follows, the opinions that others will have of them.  People are scared of saying what they’re feeling.  It makes them weak.  People are scared to say they’re pregnant or they’re gay for fear of the outcome.  It’s so sickening that people are forced to be scared of such unimportant things.   People shouldn’t be forced in repression.  They should be able to say whatever they need without fear of anything.  People shouldn’t be scared of the words themselves.  They should just be able to say whatever they like in a blunt way.  Cut out the middle part that needs to be deciphered.  Say what you mean.  You’ve only got once to get it right.

Closeness

June 6, 2008

What is there to have against closeness?  There isn’t any reason to hide from people who are showing themselves to you, who are trying hard to get in.  There is no reason to lie or subvert, but we do, but I do.

Closeness.  I want it, need it.  Yet every oppurtunity I turn down.  I run away, pick a fight, build a wall.  I want to be loved.  I want to be touched.  But, what happens after that?  Your choices are fight love and closeness or stick around until its over.  Is it better to die trying or to die fighting?
